Hi,
I downloaded movies from the internet. They are in AVI format then burned
into a DVD. The DVD works fine in my PC but it won't play on my DVD player
even if it has a DivX logo... What's the problem?

Some DVD players will not play a
home made DVD.
It's also possible that you need DVD
authoring software...for example...Nero,
Roxio, ULead, WinDVD, ProShow Gold,
etc...

What is the make and model of the stand alone DVD player? You may need to
recode the AVI files in the correct DIVX format. The converter can be
obtained for about $20 at www.divx.com and is a complete solution for
encoding Divx files.
You would then burn them to a DVD as a DATA DVD, and play that data DVD in
your standalone player. You can fit a whole lot more on a data DVD than a
Video DVD. I usually manage about 11 or 12 episodes of prime time series
(like NCIS for example) once I've edited out the commercials.
