Desktop Icons

With W98 I could place the desktop icons as close together
as I wanted, but with XP SP1 they insist on staying a set
distance apart. They are not locked and I can move them
where I want them, just not as close together as I would
like them. Any way I can change the distance between the
icons so that I can set them closer together? Thanks...

Right click desktop>Arrange icons by> and make sure "align to grid" is
unchecked.

Thanks. About the time I hit the send button, I noticed
that the 'align to grid' button was checked. I do
appreciate you answering though. You guys are great. I
have received lots of help from this newsgroup. And, this
old granny needs lots of help.....
