For some reason, when i try to defrag C: drive, it will go approx 10%-35%
complete, then give a popup saying "Some files on this volume could not be
defragmented". Then when you go to check the report, there is nothing there.
Any ideas what is causing this all of the sudden? Thanks...

Try defragging in safe mode.
I can recommend Diskeeper as a replacement for the Windows version.
Download the trial version for a couple of weeks and see for yourself. You
will buy it, I promise you.

Run Disk CleanUp in all user profiles before running Disk Defragmenter.
Also to increase the free space on your XP partition select Start, All
Programs, Accessories, System Tools, Disk CleanUp, More Options, System
Restore and remove all but the latest System Restore points? Restore
points can be quite large.

Insufficient free disk space may be a problem. What is the size of the
drive / partition being defragmented and how much free disk space?

Running Disk Defragmenter in safe mode can help if some other process
is constantly interupting the process.

You say that when you check the Report there is nothing there. Click on
Analyse and see if there is a populated report before you start the
defragment process. If yes please post a copy of the Report.

I ran Disk Cleanup in all user accounts. Then tried defrag in Safe Mode but
still does not defrag all of the drive. gets 30-35% then stops. Thanks
