What can anyone recomend for software to copy a whole disk drive? I would
like to copy from a laptop to a tower box over a home wireless network. With
little or no cost.

Is the drive a bootable WinXP and you intend it to be bootable on tower? Or
do you just want to copy over files? If the former, you realize that you
will need to run a Repair installation for the system to run on the tower?
If the system is XP SP2 and your installation disk is SP1 or earlier, you'll
need to make a slipstreamed installation disk. Then again, the original
being a laptop, the system may not work on a tower at all. Most laptops XP
installations (factory installed) are "BIOS locked" and won't work on any
other hardware except the kind they're locked to.

You need to be a little more specific. Do you want to
copy the system drive or just a data drive? If it's the
system drive then your best bet is an imaging tool, e.g.
from Acronis. If it's a data drive then xcopy.exe will
do the job very nicely.

Here's something to get you started:

Microsoft has one called "SyncToy" that might be useful.
