IE fails in new profiles

[fuzzy !!]

Internet explorer fails with a runtime error in one existing profile
and all new profiles - I have three other profiles in which IE runs
fine. Any ideas as to how to fix this?

Maybe the DEFAULT user is defective, this is the profile which is used
as a template for new user profiles.
Logon as the Administrator and then copy an existing and working
profile on top of one of the defective profiles from the Control Panel
> System > Advanced > User profiles > Settings.
