Anyone know if XP can 'scan' or 'recover' or otherwise
reinstall programs that were no longer available in 'all
programs' after i re-installed XP due to a totally
unrelated loop that caused me to have to re-install XP in
the first place. The 'program files' folder is there but
the programs didn't get put back in 'all programs'.

XP can't do that. You need to reinstall those applications.

Hi Jim,

See if you have this key listed: Start/Run/Regedit

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curr ent
Version\Setup\DisabledRunKeys

Each value that is under this key corresponds to a run item (program) that
had been disabled. The format for the values is the same as the original
values in the following registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Run

When you restore these values by using the Restore Startup Programs option,
they are moved from the registry value in DisabledRunKeys back to the Run
key.

To do so, go to Start/Run/Msconfig/Startup/Restore Startup Programs
