You can set up a single wireless router (WR) and map (bridge) multiple wireless access points (AP) to the router. Place the APs in different locations on the floor. The PCs make their connections to the AP that gives them the strongest signal. The wireless router can act as the DHCP server to assign all the PC IP addresses.

* Turn of the ICS everywhere *

Your wireless router and switch device for the Internet (cable modem) must both connect to each other using cat5. Connect at least one PC to the router which will be used to configure the device.

WR 192.168.0.1 ; SSID:main ; DHCP server configured to assign IPs 192.168.0..101 thru 192.168.0.122

APs (5) ; 192.168.0.2 thur 192.168.0.5 ; SSID (5) sub1 thru sub5

PCs (22) ; each PC makes connection to the SSID that gives them the strongest connection. Once the connection is made the router (running DHCP) will assign the PC an IP address.

Install any monitoring software to any PC you want to. You configure the router to point to the IP address that is collecting the log information.

Do all this with wireless security and PC software firewalls turned off. Once you know all the connections are working then configure you wireless security for the router and APs. You really don't need a software firewall because the router provides this function by default.

I've done all the above with Cisco (Linksys) equipment for my home network between two floors for multiple rooms.
