compaq 7540 monitor flickers.

my compaq 7540 monitor is continously flickering. There is an endless tick tick sound coming from within d monitor..
When i touched the front screen i received an electric shock as if a lot of charge had accumulated on it.
The picture is vague and nothing is displayed clearly. It seems that everything is vibrating... There also seems to have a dark line on both sides of the monitor.

The best solution is to get a new monitor :P

I will usually suggest to checked monitor cable, refresh rate and video card. But from the things you have observed in your monitor, I suggest that you either let it be checked by a monitor technician or as suggested by MarshaRomero, buy a new one.
