A friend is having difficulty signing up to newsgroups on the
Dogagent.com server.

You are already quite familiar w/ the machinations of dogagent and
myplugbox news servers. They are privately run, and somewhat 'similar'
to that of the usenet server eternal-september, there are groups which
are accessible w/o user/pass which at e-s are e-s support groups. In
the case of e-s, access to all of the OTHER general usenet groups is
accomplished 'simply' thru' proper free registration at e-s.

configure Tb to always request authentication. Then when the properly
authenticated user (w/ reg'd user/pass) accesses the server and gets the
ng list, then that list contains ALL the usenet groups, not just the e-s
support ones.

And when such a reg'd user posts a msg, the nature of the default m-id
is different from that of a non-reg'd user to the support groups. Also,
a reg'd user can configure for some 'personalization' of the m-id via
the cooperation of the e-s admin and the ability of the reg'd users
client to perform its own m-id which Tb is not.

As usual/common for you, you are VERY very off-topic in this Win10

FTR posts on a public dogagent photo group. Perhaps he doesn't know

e-s. The process for acquiring credentials for accessing those private
groups at dogagent is different from acquiring credentials for accessing

If you access e-s w/o configuring to always authenticate, then you ALSO
won't see any request for credentials, but you will only get a limited
ng list for e-s support.

When the client doesn't see (all) the ng/s on a news server, then they
don't try to access the 'invisible' *private* groups which require
credentials.
