CPAX20 Error
Hi, earlier this week, I received a message at start up saying, "CPax20 has
encounted a problem and needs to close". Can you please tell me how to fix this please? Easy step by step instructions required please. I have another error message, but we'll get that one later, when this first one done and dusted. Apologies if I've posted this in the wrong place. TIA |
CPAX20 Error
What we do in these situations is to use a web search engine (Google,
Bing, Yahoo, etc.) to find out what CPax20 means. CPax20 possibly refers to CPAXTreme version 2.0, which is included in pay-per-install software. In other words: You recently downloaded something that is probably adware. --- Leonard Grey Errare humanum est Denks wrote: Hi, earlier this week, I received a message at start up saying, "CPax20 has encounted a problem and needs to close". Thx mate. But I think from memory it was something to do with the .net
framework. And had to stop. Any ideas about it? TIA "Leonard Grey" wrote: What we do in these situations is to use a web search engine (Google, Bing, Yahoo, etc.) to find out what CPax20 means. It's got nothing to do with .Net.

There are only 2 programs I've added recently, Micro Trend Internet Security
Pro, and Revo uninstaller. I'll removed the uninstaller, and see what happens. "Leonard Grey" wrote: It's got nothing to do with .Net. --- Leonard Grey Errare humanum est Denks wrote: Thx mate. CPAX20 Error
Hi again. I did some more research on it. And it's a virus attached to some
websites, by the company Somsoft, with the file alg.exe. For you reverence you might like to read this, "C:\Program Files\Common Files\alg.exe (This file is CPAX20.exe) This is your culprit. The clean boot stopped it from running; while it isn't running it can be deleted. Everyone please rid yourself of this parasite as soon as you get this." Not likely that it's a virus. There are few true viruses in the wild -
no money in it. More likely to be adware, as I originally suggested, and you may find it harder to delete than you think. --- Leonard Grey Errare humanum est Denks wrote: Hi again. I have to say that it does have something to do with .NET. I had a .NET error
box pop up for some reason and couldn't close it normally. So I went through the task manager and when I tried to close it through there it popped up the CPAX20 error.
