Email and web mail question.

I use Thunderbird for email to Hotmail. In Thunderbird it only shows me
stuff I've sent and not deleted in my Sent box. Also Junk is always
empty.

Yet when I go online to Hotmail every damn item I've sent since last
time deleted them all are still there and worse yet there doesn't seem
to be any Select All button to delete them in one full swipe. ARGH!!!

Same as Hotmail doesn't seem to respect the Delete From Server setting
in clients.

Anyone care to comment?

You probably have the account using the pop server settings. If you
want to (closely) mirror the website, you need to use the server
settings for IMAP.

I'm not sure, but I know normal email allows
deleting from server. On the other hand, deleting
gmail only removes your access to it. I'd guess
that this is all connected to hotmail basically
being webmail. You can retrieve it via pop client,
but it's still webmail.

Have you considered using your ISP email, or
getting your own domain? There are also email
accounts one can get for something like $2/month.
But I have my own domain and website for
$9/month, with as many email accounts as I want,
which I control. In that sense, $2/month seems
steep.

However you look at it, if you don't pay for
legitimate email in some way then you're using
an ad-supported, spyware service that's free,
so you can hardly expect them to respect your
wishes.
