The fact you are 1mb short indicates you are running at extreme limit - why
not just add another RAM chip to protect your PC from the inevitable crashes
you're going to get even if you can free up - memory's cheap right now, and
the more RAM you have the better your system will perform.
512mb RAM chip added to existing 256mb worked wonders for me.

Sincerely, Len

Hi

till that time ( buying Cheap chips) try these steps ( if you are hungry
about battlefield ;-) )

----Try to disable and exit from your Anti virus if you have -and if you
don't DO INSTALL THAT ;-) ( usually will give you more than 1MB of
RAM) ----IS NOT RECOMMENDE IF YOU ARE ONLINE DURING THE GAME

---- Shut down your firewall which is resident by right clicking on it's
icon in systray - If you have one (Like Zone Alarm(r) ,Sygate
(r)....) - ----again IS NOT RECOMMENDE IF YOU ARE ONLINE DURING THE GAME

Exit any other program that is already running (if the case is 1 MB
shortage...)

If you are implying that you have onboard graphics then forget it. Build a
real computer.

As "Sleepless in Seattle" wrote, you are using an integrated Graphics-card
wich uses system RAM as Video memory.

Battlefield requires a graphics card with Hardware Transformation &
Lightning, wich I don't think your current graphics card supports. A newer
nVidia GeForce or ATI Radeon support this feature.

An extra 128MB or 256MB of RAM in your computer would make the game (well..
launch) and run smoother than the minimum specs.

To clarify my original advice in light of replies since -
I'm not a "gamer" - assumed that you had read the "graphics required" spec
of the game before attempting to use it, and that your graphics card was up
to the job (reasonable assumption since your reported error was "RAM
shortage".

A decent graphics card adds substantial dedicated Video RAM, reducing the
demand on conventional RAM.

re - (conventional) RAM is cheap right now .... I don't recommend "cheap"
RAM chips.
I only use Crucial (guaranteed) chips. Price base is dollars. I live in
UK - thanks to weakness of the $ v/s £, (about 25% this last year or so),
memory which cost me GBP40 a year ago is now around GBP30 - so, for UK, RAM
is most definately cheap right now in comparison!

Concensus of advice to date is that your PC spec isn't currently up to the
needs of this game. Adding conventional RAM will improve things somewhat, at
relatively low coat, but a decent graphics card (about 4 times the cost) is
the better option for gaming. Good luck!
