Windows Explorer right click problem

Windows Explorer right click causes it to encounter a problem and close.
Initially I tried disabling recently installed shell extensions in the
context menu with ShellExView to no avail. I then repaired the win xp
installation. Still no change. What to do now?
Help appreciated.
John.

Download and save this registry file on Line 349 - Right Click - Error
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

Then open it with Notepad by right clicking on it and choosing Edit.
Open the registry editor ( Start Run type in regedit press Enter
or click OK ) and compare the reg file'settings to the registry
settings. If they differ, then either manually edit the registry entry
or just right click the .reg file and choose Merge.

Remember, to be on the safe side, *always* back up any registry key
that is going to be edited.

Thanks for your help.
When I download line 349 I receive an executable winsockxpfix.exe, not a
text file. I ran it anyway and nothing has changed. I have also run a
clean sfc /scannow. The os is winxp pro sp3.
When exploring folders and files right clicking folders on any level works
but a right click on a file in any level results in a crash with this info.
AppName: explorer.exe
AppVer: 6.0.2900.5512
ModName: msvcr90.dll
ModVer: 9.0.30729.6161

Duh, thanks for wising me up, I thought the entry on the left related to the
problem, shows how computer literate I am.
I created a restore point then since right click is busted I double clicked
rightclickspy.reg. Presumably this merges its contents into the registry.
Unfortunately after a reboot the problem is still there.

It's going to take some detective work to find it. It's
Usually caused by an error in one of the Right-click context handlers.
Here's some resources to help find it.

Right-click is slow or weird behavior caused by context menu handlers

Right click causes an error and crashes Explorer.exe after installing
Windows XP SP2 - http://www.winxptutor.com/sp2/divxcrash.htm

objects - http://windowsxp.mvps.org/context_folders.htm

Thanks for your help. I have been chipping away with this on another forum
