Greetings David,

This is correct -- the "new" version, MSN Messenger 5, is not an upgrade

to Windows Messenger
4.x -- which is why you have both now running. In fact, if you forcibly

remove Windows
Messenger, Remote Assistance, Whiteboard, and Application Sharing will not

function.

Which process is causing your CPU Usage to go up (Right-click Taskbar,

Task Manager,
Processes tab)?

Hi,

I saw a new version of messenger on a friends computer, I installed it

on
mine and it worked fine. Having said that the old version is still there

and
is the version called by default etc. If I want to use the latest

version I
have to load it seperately.

I have also noticed with the seperate installation running my cpu usage
rockets ?
