ethernet controller & related issues

after re-loading windows xp onto my pc (with asus mobo) my internet access
has disappeared - yellow question mark indicating no ethernet controller
present. this was done to fix windows logon looping into logoff after
replacement of my agp card.
any suggestions/help out there?

Load the driver program for the Ethernet controller. If you don't
have a CD with the driver, use another computer to download the driver
from the manufacturer's web site.
