Price range is around $50 to $100 per terabyte. Lacie prices are double Seagate models of same capacity - is Lacie the better quality version of Seagate? Seagate hard disks tend to be the most unreliable. However, I've had a WD Black drive last me no more than 8 months (there's a three-year warranty though) in a laptop. Western Digital models are generally in same price range as Seagate. Or should I look at other brands? I'm willing to spend up to about $100/terabyte for greater reliability. All advice and recommendations gratefully received and carefully considered. I doubt Hitachi makes external HDs of any kind but their disks seem to be the most reliable. If they cost the same though, I'd still choose WD over Seagate. |
