Trimming Samsung SSD on WinXP?
 

How do you TRIM a Samsung SSD 860 EVO on WinXP/SP3?

Samsung's Magician software v5 won't install (may be an AMD incompatibility)
and V4 doesn't provide a TRIM option. V4 can't detect system info (such as
AHCI or SATA) and its options are all greyed out except for a performance
benchmark.

Is there another way to TRIM the SSD?

XP predates SSD so why are people using SSD on an archaic operating
system?Â* XP was good on the spinner hard disks and there was no need to
use anything other technology.

facebooking, twitter, emails and shopping then any junk OS such as Linux

SSDs go well with XP as they give an extra performance lift. I don't use

Plug the SSD into Windows 10 and use the TRIM there ?

But beware, as Windows 10 can affect the Volume Bitmap and
the $MFTMIRR. A CHKDSK later could fix that.

give you pictures of what you should be doing.

I suggest type "diskmgmt.msc" in the run box and see if it can launch a
wonderful tool that can do lots of things like resizing and shrinking a
disk.

This question has been asked in an XP newsgroup and it is quite
appropriate. You are neither helpful or clever enough to be helpful so
give it a rest.

I also suggest that if you are ignorant enough to not know what "trim"
is, that you refrain from giving advice in re SSD technology. I suggest,
also, that if you have an SSD put in your machine that you entrust the
job to someone more acquainted with the technology, i.e., a 12 year old
at the local electronics mart.

I remember using a netbook that had Windows XP SP3 preloaded in its tiny
SSD last decade! It was nice and fast.
