Want to Change to Default XP Icons

Hello,
I am running XP SP2. I installed the Vista Transformation Pack (Big Mistake). After i got tired of it slowing down my system i "tried" to uninstall it. Without much success with uninstalling it, i restored my pc to it's original factory condition. Everything went well in removing the pack, but now the icons such as My Documents,My Network Places and all of the folder icons in explorer are still the same as they were in the Transformation Pack. What i would like to know is how i can revert these back to the default xp icons. I have tried going into Desktop-- Properties--Desktop--Customise Desktop-- and changing to the default icons. But it did not work.

Any help would be appreciated, Thankyou

Reapply the XP theme. If that doesn't work then :

**Backup registry before deteing anything !!!**

Start - Run - Regedit.exe
Go to -
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Explorer\Shell
Icons
Right side, delete all values.

Go
to-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Explorer\CLSID
Left side, delete all subkeys under CLSID key.

if that doesn't work, then post back.

Good Luck, Ayush.

Thanks Ayush, but i cannot find any of those registry values in regedit.exe. I may have deleted them before when i used the help and support function in xp. That did not work. Does it have something to do with the system files?

Post back soon, thanks again

It can be. Transformation packs replace the system files.

Right click c:\documents and settings then choose Properties
Go to Customize tab and click on Change Icon
Select "C:\Windows\System32\shell32.dll" if it not already selected.

Are the icons normal or the replaces icons ?

No they didn't work, they are still the transformation pack icons. Will this require a clean install?

Click Start Run :
SFC /ScanNow

this will restore all the system files (you need the XP CD for this).
