Printer is always PAUSED

I have a home network of 3 PCs using WinXPpro SP3, and connected to a
network printer (HP 2605 laser) via a router.

This has worked perfectly for years.

But suddenly one of the PCs will not print to the printer -- the jobs appear
in the PC's printer queue, but it says the printer is PAUSED. I have tried
all the obvious things (etg click Resume; rebooted PC, rebooted printer).

The other two PC's still print OK. This PC prints OK to a different
printer. Network file access still works OK. I do think any new software or
update has been installed recently.

Any suggestions please, as to why WinXP thinks this printer is paused??

Had the same problem in Vista. Logged in as Admin, opened the printer window
(click or double-click on your printer icon), and unticked "Pause Printing"
on the Printer menu. How this became ticked in the first place, I don't
know. This solved the issue.

Sadky in my case the Printer Menu does not show the printer as paused so
there is nothing to untick. Different problem I guess.

Is the Port a Local Port or a Lanman Port? What type of print server device
are you using?

If this is a connection to a machine Windows machine sharing a printer, what
version of Windows?

The port shows as: HP standard TCP/IP port
The printer is HP2605dn laser printer connected to a router.

I have 3 PCs connected to the router, all with WindowsXPpro SP3.

All worked perfectly with this printer for over a year.
Now 2 still work, but one PC shows this printer as "paused" (and I cannot
change this).

This PC does print OK to a different printer (via the router).

Try creating a new Standard TCP/IP Port (not HP) to the device using the
same hostname. I assume the router supports LPD or Port 9100 protocols.
Check the configuration of the HP Port and set up the Standard TCP/IP Port
in this config.

I assume the HP Port supports Paused in the monitor which will send this
info to the spooler service and update the printer status but I would think
that stopping and starting the spooler would reset this data.

Hit similar issue on Win XP SP3. I have a canon printer attached to a NAS
device. I'm reinstalling all software and had the printerworking fine. Then
installed Norton and some other software and went to print a document. Got
stuck
with the Printer Offline and Error Processing Command situation.
My solution was to delete the printers from "Printers and Faxes" and
then recreate the printer using a standard LAN Manager printer port (which is
what it was using before - I think). Worked first time :-)
