What is "eHome Infrared Receiver"

Hi everyone,

On my computer there running Windows XP, I can see that the guide came up
and tell me that my computer have found new hardware (a device called eHome
Infrared Receiver", but what is this?

I have used one day to find a driver to this device, but all I have tried
not working!

First I have tried to search on my Windows XP Service Pack 3-install-cd, and
after that I researched on my cd from the manufacturer of my motherboard,
but I not can find the correct drivr!

When I look in the device manager, I can see that the "eHome Infrared
Receiver" not could be recognised correctly!

When I start up my Windows 7-installation there run on the same computer, I
can see that Windows 7 has recognised the device as the "Microsoft eHome
Infrared Transceiver", and here the driver is installed fine.

My motherboard is a ASUS M4A88TD-V EVO USB3.

I will be very happy, if a person could tell me where I can find the correct
driver to Windows XP, and tell me what "
"eHome Infrared Receiver" is!

Very thanks for the answer.

If you Google this term, you will get various hits that you may find
useful. As to what an infrared receiver _is_, it typically receives
infrared signals sent by a remote control when you press one of
the buttons on the control. My Sony VAIO desktop came with a
receiver and a remote control to control various functions including
television reception. Every modern TV also has a receiver, as does
any electronic device with a remote control.

I using Google every day and have tried to find information about my
subject. I find so manny results so I ask here instead of searching through
many many fora - some times it is easier to ask in the newsgroups since the
newsgroups is created.
