Windows Image Crop Toole

What is the name of the Windows XP image crop tool?
It does all kinds of simple image manipulations.
I only want this tool as I have used it before and want no other tool.

I cannot find it.

If it is not here, where can I download it ?

Are you thinking of PAINT? It has a few photo manipulation and
conversions tools that include cropping. It's found in the START menu
under ACCESSORIES.

Not paint.

it is not a drawing too but an image manipulation tool : crop, rotate,
contrast, brightness etc.

It's now called Windows 10. I suggest search the internet to see how
many hits you get. Are you old enough to use Google or Bing search for
yourself? You seem to know a lot about nym-shifting but completely
clueless where to start about computer problems.

Notice, that the way you're asking this question, is
not "what is the best tool for the job", but rather,
"what is the most obscure reference you can find".

This is my contribution.

https://web.archive.org/web/20040605...ertoySetup.exe

ImageResizerPowertoySetup.exe 532,616 bytes

The description doesn't inspire confidence, as it
does "in-place" manipulation and ruins the original
photo file. It would be suited to people of a bygone
era, with 10MB hard drives.

Irfan.

Most imaging programs have their good points and lack others. It's
essentially 'horses for courses'. I've tried quite a few, and I normally
use extremely versatile and intuitive Faststone Image Viewer, and
sometimes XnView. [Both have portable versions.] I occasionally need to
use an old version of Paintshop Pro, because it's the only one I have
that lets you correct trapezoidal distortion. I rarely use an ancient
version of Photoshop - and I can't remember the last time I used Paint.

Irfanview, an excellent tool:

Close but no cigar. Thanks for the effort.

I have uncovered that it is Microsoft Essentials that has this tool for
XP. Windows Live Photo Gallery.

Now I want to find it.

Looks like another newsgroup found it and it was Paul. Thanks for the link!

Irfanview is way TOO complex.

For cropping - really?
In IrfanView:
1. Drag a rectangle to the crop you want.
(1a. Fine-drag its edges if you didn't position it correctly at 1.)
2. Ctrl-Y.
3. Save the result.

Can't see how it could get any _simpler_!

(Instead of steps 2 and 3, there's a "JPEG lossless crop"; IIRR it's
under Ctrl-J. The Ctrl-Y will serve most of the time.)
