FireFox 52: "Your connection is not secure" - How to manage an exception ?
 

Hello all,

Today I tried to visit a website and got an SSL "Your connection is not
secure" page instead. After clicking the "Advanced" button I got the
information that the certificate was expired ("advanced" ? My foot).

Two things:

1) All I got was an "add exception..." button, when I would have liked a
"for this session only..." one. Is there any way to enable this ?

2) I /could/ add an exception, but there is no info there to where to manage
(read: remove) the exception afterwards (so I get the same warning the next
time I'm visiting that webpage), which makes me hesitant.

Where do I manage those /exceptions/ ? There is not mentioning of them
under tools - options -advanced - certificates.

Can't speak for v52, but in older versions, I'm used to that window
having a "remember" box - which, and I've always thought the wrong
setting for security, is ticked by default. It's low down and not
obvious.

Good question. (Probably worth asking in mozilla.support.firefox on the
Mozilla server, if you haven't been subjected to one of CI's periodic
bans there of course.)

Indeed.

On the other hand, the lack of information and non-scary buttons could
entice the "noobs" under us to just exit the page, and thus not subject
themselves to dangerous situations (the button to make an exception is
placed on that "advanced" subwindow)

.... though I wish that that button would just remember the previous state
(and auto-open).

Hmmm... The last few times went there I was either not allowed to post or
noone responded. And that was just for technical questions, like how to use
the PR_xxx, CERT_xxx and other functions to verify a received certificate.

But ... Not trying is losing by default. :-)

:-) I've not yet taken the time to see what OEQuoteFix could mean to me.
To be honest, I'm a bit afraid that it will clash with some other stuff I
already wrapped around OE.

But even if so I most likely won't use a signature line anyway - Nothing
much that I feel that I can put in there that will be relevant for all
newsgroups.

presume that's what you mean.

I'd only want it to remember the previous state _on a site basis_; I
presume that's what you mean.

:-) I ment the "advanced" information sub-window there, nothing more. In
hindsight I see I should have been a bit clearer there.

And yes, I fully expect the exceptions to be on a site-by-site basis.
