closing open ports used by IM for pop ups

I would like to know how to get rid of the box that pops
up with "news" from MSN and all the pop ups that exploit
some open port advertising software that stop this.

Greetings Enrique,

I assume you mean MSN Today? You can simply remove this by opening up MSN Messenger,
clicking the Tools menu, then Options, click the General tab, uncheck 'Display MSN Today when
Messenger signs in' and click OK.

For the record, there is no exploitations here, MSN Today is just a webpage.
