I recently brought a laptop that came with Windows XP Home Edition SP2 and I
wanted to upgrade to Windows XP Professionals. Everytime I attempted to do so I kept on getting an error message saying that the current version is newer than the one i'm about to install. I've tried unintall SP2, boot from winXP Pro CD...all attempts were unsuccessful. PLease help!!! |
maybe read a bit and use the Accessories/System Tools /Files & Settings
Transfer Wizard then boot from the CD , choose format & install xp-pro fresh and start up that Transfer Wizard "DyDx" wrote in message ... Since a non-SP2 version of Windows XP Professional
cannot upgrade over a version of Windows XP Home Edition with SP2 installed, you'll have to make a new Windows XP Pro CD with SP2 "slipstreamed", then use the new CD to upgrade over Windows XP Home. Either one of the following utilities makes slipstreaming (integrating) SP2 into Windows XP a breeze: Windows Slipstreaming and Bootable CD Guide http://www.msfn.org/articles.php?act...showarticle=49 or AutoStreamer 1.0.33 (preferred) http://www.wbeta.com/comments.php?shownews=1063&catid=2 Windows XP Service Pack 2 - Direct Download http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en -- Carey Frisch Microsoft MVP Windows XP - Shell/User Microsoft Newsgroups Get Windows XP Service Pack 2 with Advanced Security Technologies: http://www.microsoft.com/athome/secu...xp/choose.mspx ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "DyDx" wrote: | I recently brought a laptop that came with Windows XP Home Edition SP2 and I | wanted to upgrade to Windows XP Professionals.
