Where are these in W 8?
 

From the site someone recommended:

Right click on Command Prompt

I can't click on the Command Prompt to run as Administrator in W 8 as there
is no MenuPick to "Run as administrator." '

Where are these in W 8?

A person who is running ClassicShell, probably doesn't
use the big Start window with all the groovy tiles in it :-)

If you use that sucker (click the Start thing), and type
"Command Prompt" or "cmd", the Start window searches its
list of software and puts the search result on the right hand side.
If you right-click on the first item that comes back, one of the
options is "Run As Administrator".

is already running. It's a bit difficult to elevate.
And you notice the window frame has only the ordinary
adjustments.

How do I get the tiles back? Even if I type in CMD the same window with the
same dropdown menu comes up with the same choices, none are run as Admin.

are just being driven to MACS. I'm the last one in the family to be still
using Windows.

At least with W7 I could get WindowsMail working. I can't on the W 8 LT.

Try entering 'command' in the search box, r-click on the 'command
prompt' choice that comes up.

If the prompt in the window shows you are in the C:\Windows\system32
folder, you're running that window as administrator.

The solution to most Windows 8 problems is to run it from the desktop,
and not the tile side.

The tile side (Modern or Metro) interface is a mess, and almost unusable
for serious computing.

The first thing that I recommend for new user of Windows 8 is to update
to Windows 8.1. For user of Windows 8.1, I recommend going to
properties in the Desktop taskbar, in the Navigation tab, and checking
"When I sign on or close all apps goto the desktop instead of Start" and
in the tab Jumplist checking "Store and display recently opened
items............."

With these two task complete you can access all of the functions from
the old start menu by right clicking the MSIcon in the lower left of the
start up screen, and all of your recently used files by right clicking
the program icon on the tool bar.

Google something like Elevated Command Prompt. Somewhere I found a short
cut that I put in the menu to the Administrator Command Prompt.

I just spent over an hour on eightforums and what they said to do doesn't
bring up any choices to run the Command Prompt as Administrator. There is
no info on how to get that choice to appear on the dropdown menu.

Amen! That's why I installed Classic Shell.


The first thing that I recommend for new user of Windows 8 is to update to
Windows 8.1. For user of Windows 8.1, I recommend going to properties in

With Classic Shell you just tap the Windows key twice and a classic desktop
appears. I just updated to 8.1. I see no differences.


With these two task complete you can access all of the functions from the

I wish I could find the information for how to run the Command Prompt as
Admin.
