network setup disk

I have a small home network consisting of two computers
running XP pro and one running Win98. The network worked
just fine for a few months, but recently neither of the
XPs can access the 98. I suspect that I need to use a
network setup disk to restore the 98 to the network, but
worry that in creating one, I will mess up the stable
nodes.
Will creating a disk, by using the wizard, cause problems
with the other two machines? If so, is there some other
way of restoring the connection? (All three machines
access the web, trouble free, from a mini-hub.)
