Can't restore to system restore points
My computer creates system restore points for all the right reasons (system
checkpoints, and when I create them). However, I am unable to restore to any of them. I always get the same message saying that the restore could not be completed. What am I doing wrong? Any help is greatly appreciated. -- Not all those who wander are lost. J. R. R. Tolkein |

Thank you! Following your advice worked. The key was turning off Norton
2006 anti-virus and then restoring the system, and then turning it back on. I did not see this suggested approach mentioned in any of the other (numerous) posts on the same problem. I wonder if there is a permanent fix to this so that Norton 2006 anti-virus needs to be turned off then on again? Anyways, thank you very much. My apparent lack of abilitiy to restore the system had been driving me nuts. What Symantec doesn't tell you in this document is that the only restore points that will work are those created with the "Turn protection on for my Symantec protect" unchecked and "Symantec Resource Protection" turned off. Restore points created with "Symantec Resource Protection" checked and turned on, will display the message "Restoration Incomplete. Your computer cannot be restored . . . I also want to thank you. I too have Norton's 2006 System works. I unchecked
"Symantec Resource Protection". I than created my own restore point and was able to successfully Restore to that point. This is a big flaw in Norton's product and will go to another product when subscrition ends. What do I turn off on Norton Internet Security for system restore to work?
