Document Imaging Software Office 2007 - OT
 

Hi all

More of an Office 2007 question to be fair but.....

We use tiff format for document storage and the MS Document Imaging software
is the fastest for viewing and printing these.
This software does not install by default under Office 2007, so I go to
add/remove and look at the install state of this app.
According to the number 1 shown against the Document Imaging, this should be
installed on first use.
But I can't find it in the Start-Programs options to allow any use!
So I went to add/remove and changed the option to Run-from-my-computer.
According to status bars and messages this happened - but Document Imaging
still didn't appear in the Start-Programs list.

So how do I launch this program either for first or subsequent use?

As noted in my original post, I have already tried this and, although there
were progress bars etc. showing this operation progressing, the application
has not appeared in the menu selection

Where is the Start menu folder for all the shortcuts to load the Office
components (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, etc)? In that folder should
be a subfolder called "Microsoft Office Tools". Did you move the Office
start menu folder elsewhere but not drag along the Tools subfolder?

Thanks VanguardLH - I thought the problem was with the setup of the Document
Imaging as I couldn't get it
to install/appear in the menu (it is not included in the typical install of
Office 2007).
The issue was with the description of the various elements/application which
make up the Document Imaging options when you try to add them.
The one titled Document Imaging, that I thought should do the job, is just
the document printer. I needed to install the other elements also (although
the titles of these apps actually refer to scanning etc).

I got it. The Microsoft Document Image Writer is a printer driver. I
haven't used it but believe it is used to write an "image" to a CD/DVD
disc. It is the converter used where you "print" a document but the
result generates a file (TIF or MDI). This is similar to other document
"printers" where the purpose is to convert a file using the print
command available in most applications. Other examples are Bullzip PDF
Printer, CutePDF, PrimoPDF, and PDFCreator which are drivers for
emulated printers whose purpose is to let you print from any application
to generate a .pdf file.
