windows movie maker crashes when I touch the movie timeline

I have several files (bigger than 1 gb) that I need to edit together.
Whenever I drag the video into the timeline the movie maker crashes either
immediately, or after I attempt to click on a specific moment in the
timeline. please help!

windows movie maker crashes when I touch the movie timeline

Hello.
I am having a similar problem. I recently installed windows movie maker
on a computer of mine. At first, I did not have this problem, but
somehow it appeared. I don't know a lot about computers, but I have had
movie maker issues on a different computer, all in which I was able to
fix. However, this problem makes me clueless.

At first, I had a problem that wouldn't allow me to import a video from
my video camera. I found out from a different site that I had to
download what was called "ffdshow decoder" or something like that. It
solved the problem instantly. However, now I have a different problem.
It is pretty much like the problem the person above me has. Windows
movie maker closes down as soon as the video is placed in the timeline.
Help.

I'm uncertain why you *installed* Movie Maker...considering
that it's included in all versions of Windows since Windows ME.

Anyway...you may be importing video files that are not fully
compatible with Movie maker and there's a good chance that
you need to update your video driver.

Okay. Thank you.
I had to install windows movie maker because my computer was originally
owned my mom's work company. Meaning, programs such as movie maker were
removed.

So...which version did you install? Open Movie
Maker and have a look at...Help / About.
