Partitioning a Hard drive
 

where can i find a good online resource for info about
partitioning a drive. mostly the how tos and the why.

is it better to partition or to have two drives?
What about partitioning for programs and large files
storage but having a tiny (420mb) little one on the side
for key documents.

ways/methodology involved, go to www.PowerQuest.com and download the manual
for Partition Magic (whether you use Partition Magic or not).

If you have two physical drives, you'll have at LEAST two partitions.
All drives have to be partitioned. How you partition them is up to
you.

What about partitioning for programs and large files

I keep all my key files on a second physical HD. That way if
something happens to the drive the OS resides on, even if it is a
catastophic physical failue (like a head crash), the data is safe on
the second drive.

And I back up the second drive as necessary.

Might also look at a second hard drive since they are getting dirt cheap is
you can find them on sale or with rebates. Works wonders with Photoshop and
the like. Also you can physically have your data removed or duplicated from
the main drive.
