Sudden flood of notifications

An issue I've never had before, so looking for any insights please.

While running a normally reliable application (a macro in Macro Express
Pro) I suddenly started getting an unstoppable succession of
notifications:
"Macro Express Pro
An event was logged"

https://www.dropbox.com/s/7waqbcqpbu...gged.jpg?raw=1

I had to use Task Mgr to terminate.

I went to Win 10 Settings Notifications & Actions 'Get notifications
from these apps' (in order to temporarily prevent a reoccurrence until I
find the cause), but there is no entry for Macro Express Pro in the
list.

https://www.dropbox.com/s/sksyu8up3u...blem.jpg?raw=1

BTW, never had *any* taskbar notification like that before, from any
app. Interested to know how others configure this 'feature'?

Check Windows event logs. Find out what were logged.

Every softwares have the rights **not** to use Windows 'own API, even if
they're not cross platform softwares.

Do you have UAC enabled or not?

Do you allow the program to automatically update itself? Or do you just
have it notify you of a new available update, and you do the update if
you want? Did it recently update?

Were you running one of its macros at the time you saw the
notifications? Does it automatically run a macro on Windows startup or
at a scheduled time or triggered by an event?

How many macros do you have defined? If not many, reload the program
(without any macros configured to run when it loads), and run each macro
one at a time to see if one of them triggers the notifications flood.
It is unclear if the notifications you mention are due to loading the
program, or by having the program run a macro.

Are these "events" only recorded in the program's log file (and, if so,
what do they say)? Or are they Windows events, and you can use Event
Viewer to look at them?

Is this for a new macro you recently defined, or for an old one that has
been used numerous times before these notification's popped up? If a
newly defined event, check how it is defined. Could be the macro itself
generates an event notification either by how the macro is defined or
for what action(s) it commits.

Macro Express Pro is payware ($70 for v6). Did you pay for it, or are
you using the trialware version, and the 30-day trial period expired?
There is no freeware version (that they list on their site). Since you
paid for it, why not contact them (https://www.macros.com/support.htm)?
That page says, "Support for a specific version of the program ends 2
years after an updated version is released." You didn't mention the
version you are using to know if it is still supported. If out of
support, you'll have to use their forums to ask for help (looks like you
already posted there, so presumably your version is too old to get
support from Insight).

To be in the list means the app registered itself (which means an entry
somewhere in the registry). I have lots of apps that are not listed.
Some use the Windows notification method while some use their own
popups. If not in the Notifications list of apps then you have to go
into the program's own configuration to find its notification settings.

If it doesn't look like an Action Center notification then it's the
program using its own popups.
