Followup on my transcoding thread
I'm sure you all hate not knowing how things turn out after you give advice
as much as I do. I wound up buying the MSI GTX 1050 2G card. I had to rearrange most of my slots to get it to fit in my PCIe x16 slot, but what the hey. Unlike the older WinX HD Video Converter program, the Video Proc version doesn't do much space wise transcoding from mkv to mp4, but downverting from 1080p to 720p it just screams. I just ran through three LARGE 1080p files in about 40 minutes for all three, as opposed to the about 20 hrs apiece with the AMD GPU. Since I have a lot of those 1020p files in my video library, not having to buy another drive more than pays for the card, so I am a happy camper. Thanks again for the advice and shared knowledge. It helped me tremendously when deciding which card to get. Tim aka lonelydad |
