sound card problems

I have a radion motherboard, and there was no external sound card installed
in my computer. so i'm assuming that it was built into my motherboard. i
installed a nvidia geforcefx5200 graphics card with media center. it came
with a tv imput on the back of the graphics card. the video from the tv will
run but the sound will not run. i then installed a sound blaster 5.1 sound
card. if the cmedia pci audio device, (that i think is the sound card that is
in the motherboard), is enabled in the device manager, no sound work at all.
if it is disabled and the creativer sound blaster(card i installed today) is
enabled and is the main sound device in the direct x controal pannel, the
sound works fine for the computer sounds and some external sound but not for
the nvidia tv dvr. i'm assumning that the cmedia sound device is on the
mother board because when i installed the sound blaster card i didn't have
any other card to take out. i uninstalled the cmedia device in the device
manager but windows keeps wanting to put it back in when i turn the computer
back on. so i go to update device and it just installs the cmedia device
again. the tv imput audio still doesn't work but i believe this is because of
a conflict between the internal sound card (cmedia) and the new one, but i
could be wrong. i have no sound at all when the cmedia device is active.
right now i have it disabled and i have system sound but still no tv imput
sound. this problem is driving me crazy. please help. ps, i have a amd
athalon 1.7, 512mb ram, 30g hard drive, win xp, direct x 9.0.

Hi Kyle

Have you got a cable going from the 5200 to the sound card inside the PC?

If so, have you tried the soundcard in a different slot?

also check volume properties (double click on the speaker in the toolbar),
options, properties, recording, ok. And check that the box ticked matches
the one in win dvr
