Maintenance settings, 8.1 HOME!
 

Is there any way to change the maintenance settings in the Home version?

So far, all the searches are listing sites that tell you how to do it in
Pro.

That setting is not available in your Home edition? In an online
search, I found no mention automatic maintenance was a Pro-only feature.

Seems your only choices a
- Run automatically (when idle).
- Run at a scheduled time.
- Disable it (via Task Scheduler).

So you can defin XML files inputted by schtasks or use C to interface
with the TaskSch API. Once inputted, I don't know where the settings
are stored. Maybe in the tasks files under %windir%\Tasks, or might be
saved in registry entries.

(The above was found via online search. I never bothered with Win8.)

I own the Pro version, the Home belongs to a friend of mine. I was
expecting to find the same screen in Home that is in Pro. We were using
the screenshare feature of Skype and I completely missed the arrow in
the Action Center when I looked there.

In Pro, you can get to the screen to set the time to update Windows from
Windows Update in the Control Panel, which is where I started in looking
for when it would check for updates. But that option is not available
in Home.

We've check marked the option to wake the computer in the night, which
is going to let her do what she wants.

I'm not using 8 either, just have it to help friends and others. But I
am trying to find the time to explore W10, and need to get into El Capitan.
