Please help!!! Can't connect to internet!!!
 

I was in the middle of a very important project requiring a PC. All of a sudden, I find that I can't connect to the internet. This is really bad. I need this fixed immediately.

My windows xp is not wireless, so I checked the cables. The computer is connected to the router, and the router obviously works because I can access the computer from this mac. I looked at "Network Connections" and it looks like it's connected. One of the connections says:

Local Area Connection
Connected, Firewalled
SiS 900-Based PCI Fast Ethernet Ad

I even connected the computer directly to the modem. I still had no luck. Any ideas? Again, this is urgent. Please help me.

Click Start, Run, type:

netsh winsock reset

Press Enter key

Restart the system

I tried the winsock reset thing and had no luck. I'll try the downloadable app now. In the mean time, this might help you help me. Here's what The Command Prompt responds with when I type "ipconfig/all":

When I ran the application, it said "No changes necessary."

Please help!!! Can't connect to internet!!!
 

Be sure to put a space between ipconfig and the /all.

The response should be a listing of your IP address
your physical address (MAC address)
Your subnet mask address
Your default gateway address
Your DSN server address
Your DHCP address

It doesn't matter. It works both ways the same.

Actually, "IPCONFIG /ALL" works just fine, always has.

I tried the Winsock repair thing. Now, when the computer boots up, it says "Invalid system disk
Replace disk, and then press any key"

What should I do? If my computer it broken, I don't care as long as my files can be recovered. I'm not going to sue you. :D

...now if my files are gone, that's a whole other situation...........

Awesome news! I used the boot menu to find a way to start up my computer, and it worked! I can connect to the internet! I'm just a bit concerned. I got a few error messages on startup like "Couldn't find this file.ddl" and "Error. Check your connections in My Computer." I didn't write the messages down, so those may not be accurate. Is there anything I should worry about, or was that supposed to happen?

Bad bad bad bad bad bad bad.

This is not good. I can't open any files. When I try to open something, I get a message saying "Not enough quota is available to process this command." Furthermore, when I open My Computer, the drives do not have titles.

Sorry, I have been making a lot of posts in a row here.

I rebooted, and I only got one error message this time. It was one of the origional two. Here's what it said:

"The procedure entry point FinishParse could not be located in the dynamic link library versit.dll."

Please help!!! Can't connect to internet!!!
