When I plug in ipod nano, device status states :Windows cannot use this
hardware because it has been prepared for "safe removal" but it has not been
removed from the computer. (Code 47) Can anyone help me with this situation?

Try either or both, attempt to plug into a different USB port, shut the pc
down (power off) then power on, attempt the plug in. are you using the safely
remove hardware prompt when unpluggin the device(s)? I have run into this a
few times myself and sometimes one or the combination of the answers given
above have solved my issue. sometimes using that safely remove prompt causes
issues like this, I use a USB hub and never use the software prompt myself.
