Greetings,

I don't believe the problem is on your side, most likely since your contact isn't receiving
you, something on their side is blocking it. Tell them to do the following:
Make sure that the Internet Connection Firewall hasn't turned on, click Start, then
click the Control Panel. If you're in category view click Network and Internet connections
then click Network Connections. Right click your network/internet connection, then click
Properties. Click the Advanced Tab, and verify that the Internet Connection Firewall is
unchecked.
If you're using a router (UPnP enabled), remove the current port forwardings -- to do so,
click Start, All Programs, Accessories, Communications, Network Connections. Right-click the
"Internet Gateway" (should be under the Internet Gateway heading) and choose Properties.
Choose the Settings button, click each 'msmsgs' or 'msnmsgr' entry and then choose 'Delete'
to each one. Then close Messenger (right-click the Messenger icon, choose Exit), then restart
Messenger and try a voice/video conversation again.

Finally, both of you should run through the Audio/Video Tuning Wizard (click the Tools menu
in the main Messenger window, then Audio Tuning Wizard).

Hi Richard,

The Intel NIC issue that you and others discovered in another thread is not the only cause of
this problem. Realistically, the only way to get that fixed is to complain to Intel --
unless these "bad" drivers are on WindowsUpdate...

WEll the person that discovered the solution to the=20
problem-look back through the threads-said that he did=20
get his driver from windows update. And while it is not=20
the only cause of the problem I must say that every=20
person I have asked who have had the same symptoms-being=20
able to receive but not send audio and video-each one has=20
had an intel nic card. Most of the people complaining=20
aren;t even using firewalls or routers or are, like=20
myself, using a router but only having the problem on the=20
machine with the intel nic card.

My motherboard is a D865 perl with an Intel Pro/1000 CT=20
on the board. It is using the latest available drivers=20
downloaded from intel's support website. I cannot roll=20
the driver back to a previous version cause windows says=20
no previous version exists for me. The machine is brand=20
new and I don't have a previous driver to roll it back=20
to. If you go back through these threads the last couple=20
days other people named their boards and nic cards as=20
well (all intel and all having the same problem). Those=20
people were able to correct it by rolling back the=20
driver. The problem we are all having is that we can=20
connect but the other side receives no voice or video. =20
In my case I am using a Upnp enabled router and two non-
intel boards on my network can communicate with voice and=20
video with each other behind the router and to anyone=20
else outside the router so I know it has nothing to do=20
with my firewall/router as it is working properly for the=20
other two machines. =20

Thanks

I posted this in an older thread.

I just disabled my onboard Intel NIC and installed a=20
RealTek. I now have audio/video. Intel better fix=20
this! I was unable to roll back the drivers since the=20
original drivers that came with the board didn't work in=20
the first place and updating them to the ones they were=20
on the net didn't fix the problem either. So rolling=20
back the drivers was not an option for me.

But it's working now with this NIC. I'll be watching=20
Intel's web site to see if they update their drivers=20
anytime soon. I better not hold my breath.

My motherboard: D875PBZ (onboard lan Intel Pro/1000 CT)

-----Original Message-----
If you can tell me the versions of the driver in=20

question, as well as the
model of the card, I can have one of ours testers try=20

to=20
reproduce this. If
it is causing an issue, we can work with Intel to fix=20

it.

And I like the "bad" reference. The fact is that they
are not "bad" they are BAD as in when you roll back the
driver the program them works. That is the definition=20

of
BAD.
-----Original Message-----
Hi Richard,

The Intel NIC issue that you and others discovered in

another thread is not the only cause of
this problem. Realistically, the only way to get that

fixed is to complain to Intel --=20
unless these "bad" drivers are on WindowsUpdate...

Greetings,

I don't believe the problem is on your side, most=20

likely
since your contact isn't receiving
you, something on their side is blocking it. Tell=20

them
to do the following:
Make sure that the Internet Connection Firewall hasn't
turned on, click Start, then
click the Control Panel. If you're in category view
click Network and Internet connections
then click Network Connections. Right click your
network/internet connection, then click
Properties. Click the Advanced Tab, and verify that=20

the
Internet Connection Firewall is
unchecked.
If you're using a router (UPnP enabled), remove the
current port forwardings -- to do so,
click Start, All Programs, Accessories,=20

Communications,
Network Connections. Right-click the
"Internet Gateway" (should be under the Internet=20

Gateway
heading) and choose Properties.
Choose the Settings button, click each 'msmsgs'
or 'msnmsgr' entry and then choose 'Delete'
to each one. Then close Messenger (right-click the
Messenger icon, choose Exit), then restart
Messenger and try a voice/video conversation again.

Finally, both of you should run through the=20

Audio/Video
Tuning Wizard (click the Tools menu
in the main Messenger window, then Audio Tuning=20

Wizard).
