Why not Widows 10?

Please enumerate reasons for not getting Windows 10.
Is not resistance futile? Why are we resisting?
(I'm newly settled in windows7.)

First I will reverse the question. Why haven't YOU upgraded to windows 10?
Probably the same reason others haven't. So you probably answered your own question.

But...
I have one copy running in a VM, a Technical Preview copy. Also I upgraded an old aging win7 to 10 to see the real
thing on a desktop. But my main workhorse is still 8.1. I'm holding off for a while till they iron out the bugs,
and the November update seems to sound like it is going to fix a few things.

Other than waiting for the dust to settle, I have no other reasons not to upgrade.
The security issue does not scare me even though I will take steps to turn a lot of stuff off.
If I can't get used to the new menu I'll do like I did in 8.1 and put in the 3rd party menu program.

Al.

Windows 10 is the perfect OS for trolls. You should upgrade
immediately.

People with sound mind are not resisting it; Only the stupid people like
Canadian Small boys abuser and Stan Brown are actively resisting because
they are in their last few days on this planet.

Octogenarians are resiting it because they don't have any energy left in
them to try something new and wonderful;

Finally, dumbest people like you have settled for Windows 7 now that
Windows 10 is the /de facto/ standard in the Operating System products.

Hasn't been offered on my machine yet. GWX is still showing as

Resistance is hardly futile. I have not used an MS system for over 10
years.

Too many things don't work or don't work quite right when running on
Windows 10.

Intel don't support the HD3000 graphics card on Windows 10.Too bad.
Windows 10 installs and runs but the display seems slow and my fan is
contantly running. I had to go back to Windows 7.

First I will reverse the question. Why haven't YOU upgraded to windows 10?
Probably the same reason others haven't. So you probably answered your own question.

I haven't updated yet because:

1) I'm not sure that all my existing software will run on it, and want
to hear from others whether they've had any problems in that respect.

2) Since OS bloat is common, I'm also wondering if it will slow down
my computer by using more memory and causing my apps to swap to disk
more frequently.

3) I'm not sure what features it has that makes it more desirable than
Windows 7, and whether I desire those features at all.

4) It's big, and will use a lot of bandwidth to download.

5) It's probably no better documented than any other version since Win
98, and so if some stuff breaks I won't kniow how to fix it.

16-bit programs, which might be a particular problem for you. You can
run them in a VM but that might be more trouble than it's worth.

A very well-reasoned set of points! Applicable to almost any upgrade of
anything. I'd say for the "Widows" 10 upgrade, point 3) is the most
significant one this time round: _I_ am certainly unaware of any
_simple-to-understand_ aspect of 10 (or 8, or - mostly - even 7!) that I
want: the question "what's the _difference_ between x and y versions",
rather than "what's the _advantage_ of y over x" doesn't seem to be
_asked_ much these days, and when it is, the answer tends to be things
like better security and better support for new hardware, rather than
exciting new features. I can't easily recall many improvements of _that_
sort (actually as part of the OS rather than third-party utilities) even
back to XP; I _think_ _my_ reason for switching to XP was mainly the
improved hardware support, and some degree of improved stability. Other
enhancements were about balanced by irritants, IIRR.

To take your other points: 1) software that won't run: it'd probably be
useful if you list what you consider important, then the 10ers could
tell you. 2) bloat causing hardware to run less well: I share your
suspicion, though I have seen a _few_ claims that it actually works
_better_. (Whether that's only by turning off some of its advanced
features, I don't know. I remember that being the case with 7: in
theory, if you turned off Aero and various other things, it _could_ run
better [than I'm not sure what - probably XP?] on some hardware; whether
cut-down 7 was still worth having was/is obviously a decision for the
user.) Point 3) see above. Point 4) it's big - I agree (and almost
certainly bigger than it needs be), but these days probably not a major
problem, unless you have a limited download allowance. Point 5)
undocumented - I'm sure you are right there! I guess in time the various
tweaks will become known, often via third parties - but of course as
with previous versions, knowing which are genuine, which just a waste of
time, and which actually dangerous, will remain hard to determine.
