Win2000Pro to Win7 upgrade: possible?
"PJF" wrote in message m... I've been running Win200Pro for nearly eight years without a problem.....until this past weekend. The PC crashed on startup. Had to do a complete reinstall of the OS to get the PC running. I'm thinking it's time to move on to Win 7. But I can't get the program I D/L'd from MS to check the compatibility of my hardware with Win 7 to run; I get an error message saying that Win 7 upgrade advisor setup is not a valid Win 32 application. I'd like to know if there's anyway I can be sure my hardware is compatible with Win 7 before spending $300+ for the program. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks and regards, PJF You don't have to spend money to try it out, you can install without a product key it and run it for 30 days before activation is required. |

"PJF" wrote in message m... Thanks, Dave. I'll follow up on your info. Regards, PJF Also, I've found that the Upgrade Advisor is just that, an advisor. If you do get it to run don't regard everything it says as the final word. I would just go ahead and install and see what happens, you've nothing to lose really. (Provided you have backed-up your data of course!) Good luck. |
