XP SP2 - Problems printing when switch Windows user

Hi,

I have a problem printing on XP sp2 with my Lexmark X8350 when I
switch to a different user account.

The strange part is that whichever account I log onto first "gets" the
printer. If I log on to the Admin account, I can print from there -
however if I switch users and log into the limited user account, I
cannot print - it looks like it's printing, the printing icon shows in
the lower right corner, but nothing ever prints.

But if I log onto the limited account first, I can print ok from
there, but not from the admin account if I switch to it.

However, if I log onto one of the accounts, I can log off the account
and onto another one, and it will work fine.

Any one know why I can't print to the same printer if I'm logged onto
2 accounts? And more importantly, if there is a fix!

cheers,

David

Are you "logging off" or "switching users"?
Might make difference in how the printer is assigned.
Have you installed the printer for all users?

I'm wanting to just switch users, rather than having to log off one
and log onto another.

Is this possible?

The printer can be seen ok from the limited user account (whether I
log off or switch users), so I presume it's installed for all users?

cheers,

David

Some more info - I just tried to print a large Word document. I can
see Word run through all the pages, and the printer icon shows in the
lower right corner. When I click on it, I see the job, but then it
suddenly says "deleting" and it deletes the job.

Are there any print events in the system event log? If there are and the
state win32 error 5 this is an access denied error. Make sure Everyone has
write access to \windows\system32\spool\printers
