Networked PC's xp & 98se missing web images on xp machine, ok in win98 on MY website?

*I have a unique problem that has me totally baffled. I recently
bought a PC that came with XP Home. Prior to this I had been using a
homebuilt PC running Win98se. I used Front Page 98 to publish my
website to a local folder and FTP'd it from there.

I networked the new PC using a router. The networking was a breeze
and I was up and running in short order. I installed FP98 and Office
2000. On my old PC I was able to put them into two separate
directories but on the new one they install in the same one and
FP2000 installs itself over FP98. Since my website is very basic I
uninstalled Office 2000, got OpenOffice to replace it and reinstalled
FP98. Everything appeared to be fine and all the images were
appearing on my website in my browsers. I also purchased Namo Web
Editor but am not using it.

I didn't notice a problem at first and lost track of when this
happened but images are missing on my website when I view them on
IE6, Firefox and Opera on the new PC. There are no broken link
icons, it's as if they were never there. I checked the page source
and the html for the images is missing as if it was never in there.
I retained my original setup on the old PC so I'm now publishing and
viewing my ENTIRE WEBSITE just fine on the old PC. When I look at it
on the new one it's got missing images but I don't notice anything
strange on other sites I normally visit.

Short of reinstalling XP I wonder if anyone has any ideas. I also
tried disconnecting my router and plugging the DSL cable directly
into my new PC. Same thing, no improvement, images still missing.
Next I tried opening up some of the security perissions in IE but
that didn't work so I went back to default settings.

The new PC is great but I've been struggling with this inconvenience
for weeks now. Does anyone have any ideas? All other internet,
email and newsgroup connections seem to be fine, it's just this one
quirk with my website that's got me baffled. *
