I gave my wife a win10 laptop, and she absolutely loves it!

That said, she only uses it for email chat with her sisters, Netflix,
and something called "free cell."

When she needs to access her bank account, needs to print anything, is
seriously researching (she's a "control scientist" for a
pharmaceutical company) or just wants a secure system, she's back to
the desktop sititng in the laundry room. Running win XP

"because I trust it, it doesn't hang up doing updates, and best of all
- I can print with it and; it just works."

BUT it's unsecurable, WON'T take many new devices AND programs,
and isn't really any easier to use.

Not that I recommend it, but AFAIK, the trick to make an XP machine
get Windows Embedded POSReady 2009 updates still works. That gets
updates till 2019. And even for standard XP, the security update against
the WannaCry ransomware attack was released in May 2017.
