I would like to upgrade Norton Security from Standard (one device) to
Deluxe (five devices). Despite my efforts on the Norton website, I
have been unable to find any obvious way to do this. There is a claim
that if you renew early the renewal is added on to the remaining
subscription period. However, if I renew as Deluxe will my existing
subscription be converted immediately or not until the renewal date?

Another option seems to be to cancel automatic renewal thus forcing
expiry of the product then to make a new purchase at that stage..
Given the introductory offers that seem to be available, this could
end up cheaper if I am prepared to wait.

Is there any easy way to make this change?

Contact Norton and ask them.

Unsurprisingly, I did think of this.

I have spent a considerable time on the website ploughing though FAQs
etc and trying to find a contact address. Maybe my detective skills
are lacking but I was unsuccessful, which is exactly the reason I
asked the question here..

You cannot add the remaining days from the single device software to
the Deluxe 5 device edition. Only like for like editions.
Cancel the auto renewal as it is always more expensive than buying from
a third party. Last week I bought the Deluxe version from PC World for
£19.99 (auto renewal offering from Norton was £29.99).
You can buy the Deluxe version anytime and wait until your present
subscription runs out then install the new 5 device software. If you
can't wait that long then you will lose the remaining days if you
install it on the single device machine you have now.

I have had Norton for a number of years and I always look at buying the
next years subscription about two months before the present
subscription runs out. I have the Deluxe version and all you need is
the new registration key for the next year. As the software updates
itself throughout the subscription period there is no need to download
and install it again.
What I do is purchase the software like I did last week (fron PC
World), you are given the key on purchase and the option to download
the software. I didn't bother with the download.
Then I accessed my Norton account, chose the Chat to technician, tell
them you have a new key and ask them to add the remaining days to your
new subscription. Took less than five minutes to do and I now have 398
days of subscription.

Scott, you didn't say how long your single subscription has left.
If you are in need of the Deluxe version now. Then install that as a
trial for 30 days then purchase it at the end of the trial period. At
least you will gain 30 days for free. :-)

They probably will bug the **** out of you when your subscription is
almost over. I think Comcast provides a free copy which I have no
intention to ever try out.

I am sure they have a forum where you can find an answer.

KenW

I don't know about the Norton available from Comcast, BUT

I had used McAfee for years, and then upgraded to ATT Uverse. I found
that with Uverse a free version of McAfee was available from ATT that
had the same components and functionality as the version that I had been
paying for years.

I uninstalled the pay version and installed the free version from ATT
and have been using it ever since.

Point just because it is from your ISP, don't assume the version they
are offering is any different that the version you have been buying.

My suggestion would be to wait until it expires, delete every trace of it
and use a decent antivirus that doesn't slow your system to a standstill
most of the time. Bitdefender springs to mind, and the free edition is fine
for most people.

I've been running Norton 360 through Comcast/Xfinity on 4 laptops for
years. There is nothing wrong with it.
