I have been having a lot of trouble getting on line. Is there any reason
why I should just leave it on 7/24?

lot's of reasons why
leaving it on 7/24
"is not" a good idea.

one is the registry
collects data and
will crash and it
will be a very bad
headache for you.

you should have any
troubles getting on
line, if you are referring
to the internet.

perhaps, you should
work on resolving this
issue, instead of making
the situation worst by
the 7/24 idea.

oops, s/b:

you should "not" have any
troubles getting on
line, if you are referring
to the internet.

Do we know what kind of connection you have to the internet?

Talk about idiotic nonsense!
Where did you get this latest bird brainer of a notion?

The situation will not be made worse by leaving the computer on 7/24.
As usual you don't have a clue!

What? Give some documentation then. I leave my on for a week on end
and don't have issues 1.

I just checked with Road Runner, my isp, and was told that I don't need a
new modem and that it was all right to leave the computer, (on the
internet), all the time. Thank you for your responses to my question.

I guess it's time to shut down all of our servers and clients so they're not
on 24/7. We'll just shut down our business for several hours a day.

We certainly don't want the registry to collect data during those hours that
might crash it.

You aren't by any chance working on the bail-out program in Washington?
Sounds like you'd be a good consultant to the congress.

As long as you have some virus and or firewall protection, I can't come
up with another caveat about the 24/7 thing.

I find it more "pathetic" than funny, actually. I wish I had your sense

there's lots of documentation
about this aspect in the
knowledge basis.

further, don't compare
network managed registries
with that of a home version.

good luck.

here is another issue
you might expect resulting
from the bad advice/idea
you ascertained:

Power Failure
A power failure or some other unexpected shutdown event may cause a corrupted registry hive. To determine whether this is the cause
of the issue, look for event ID 6008 entries. Event ID 6008 entries indicate that there was an unexpected shutdown. In this case,
some process may have been modifying part of the registry hive, and the computer lost power before that change could be completed.
This leaves the registry hive in an inconsistent state. On restart, when the operating system tries to load the registry hive, it
may find data in that registry hive that it cannot interpret, and you may receive one of the error messages that is included in the
"Summary" section.
