Is it a good Idea to have multiple browsers in my machine.
Vista, IE7, Firefox?

Personally, I want only one--the one I think is best--but there's no
downside to having more.

I use Internet Explorer 8.0 for most purposes. However, some
pages do not display properly in IE8 - and for those pages, I use
Opera or Mozilla Firefox. These three browsers co-exist happily
on my computer.

There is one proviso. You need to retain Internet Explorer on a
Win XP machine - because the Windows Update / Microsoft Update
options do not function with non-Microsoft browsers. If you try
to use Opera or Firefox Mozilla to access Microsoft Update, you
will receive the following response:

'Thank you for your interest in obtaining updates from our site.
'
'To use this site, you must be running Microsoft Internet
'Explorer 5 or later.
'
'To upgrade to the latest version of the browser, go to the
'Internet Explorer Downloads website.
'
'If you prefer to use a different web browser, you can obtain

As I said, I wasn't trying to tell Mario what to do. I was just
pointing out that I use and want only one.

Actually when I say that I use only one browser, I overstated it a
little. The browser that I use is Maxthon, and Maxthon doesn't run by
itself--it runs on top of IE (IE8 here). So I do have two installed.

I've always only used one browser but find myself in a position to be able
to
evaluate Flash websites.
Firefox has issues with flash sites and whether it's the fault of the site
itself or perhaps Firefox I don't know.
I need to install firefox (reluctantly) to see how or if there is a
difference in the way these sites display.
Just wondered if it was ok to do this.

evaluation web page access speeds. I have IE 8, Firefox, Opera 10,
Safari 4 and Google Chrome 4.

Sorry for the delay, I don't spend much time in newsgroups anymore.
My Flash is working fine. The problem has been tracked back to bugs in some
media widgets
in our Web builder.
