System restore problem - rstrui.exe

When I am trying to open rstrui.exe I get an error message saying the
program cannot be executed and must be shut.
I cleaned the registry using a registry cleaner but the error message
still shows up.
Anyone out there who knows what to do?

Registry cleaning probably only made maters worse, registry cleaners are
next to utterly useless and for most part they usually cause more harm
than good.

Try he http://bertk.mvps.org/html/reinstall.html

System restore problem - rstrui.exe

Hello John,
I followed the procedure you proposed
http://bertk.mvps.org/html/reinstall.html
The i386 folder on the hard disk contains 6237 files and 67 folders. Total:
456 MB.
I tried several times. Everytime after restarting the error message returned.
My computer is working fine otherwise, hence I decided to go on without the
system restore option.
Thank you anyway for your help.
Herb
