formatting a new hard drive

Hullo. I'd like to put a new hard drive into my old
computer and format it ntfs. The old (existing) hard
drive is formatted in FAT32. I would like to keep the
data from the old hard drive, perhaps transfer it onto
the new hard drive, as I've been advised to not run the
two different filing systems on the same pc (but no one
has yet explained why). What is the easiest/safest way to
do this? I'm using XP as my OS.
Ultimately I'd like to keep both hard drives (in ntfs)
but first things first. Thanks much,
--chris.

Hmm. Install new drive and format to NTFS. Copy (not move) everything of
value from old to new. "Convert" old drive to NTFS. Defrag and chkdsk both
drives. Enjoy.

P.S., it is fine to have two drives - each with diff fs - in same XP comp.

Please post a follow-up.
Ron

There is absolutely no reason whatsoever why you can't run NTFS and fat32 on
the same computer when using Windows XP!
