Anyone figure out how to change the automatic update settings? The drop-down
is grayed out, and there's a yellow banner at the top of the Change Settings
page stating that "Some settings are managed by your system administrator."
Well, duh, that's me :-(
Maybe this is a built-in setting so the update system will have to run, for
testing purposes? Possibly in the final release, or in a newer build, this
setting will be changeable.
Thanks!

I think the official line is that MS control updates.

Here I have a 32-bit and a separate 64-bit machine running the preview.
The 32-bit is logged on with my Microsoft login and updated to the
latest build, the 64-bit one has a local login and has stayed at the
earlier build.

I wonder if there is a difference depending on the type of login?

That's kinda what I think, too.

I don't think it makes any difference whether or not it's a local login or
not. I had a similar setup as you with two different machines, one local and
the other using my MS logon, and it was locked on both (I am at the latest
build on both machines). I tried activating the built-in Administrator, and
that wouldn't allow me to run hardly anything for some odd reason. I guess
it's all due to it being a preview release. I rather like WinTP right out of
the box (so to speak) much more than I did Win8. I'm curious to see what
other changes will be made as it gets closer to release.

Are you running Windows v10?

Yep. That's why I posted in the Win10 group :-)

Did you move from Win7 to Win10? If so, were there any problems adjusting?

I haven't "moved" per se since Win10 is still a preview, but I haven't had
any adjustment problems at all. It's not the same as Win7, but is closer to
it than Win8 is. Unless there are major changes to Win10 before it's
released, I can see myself migrating from Win7 to it. I haven't even
bothered to try Classic Shell or any of the "bring back the start menu"
programs with Win10 like I have on my Win8 laptop. I actually have Win10
installed on a second HDD on that laptop, and just use my F12 function at
boot to mess around with it. I have my Win8.1 HDD first in the list, so it
will automatically boot to it unless I choose the Win10 drive. It runs much
smoother that way that it did using VM. Plus my laptop has 8GB of RAM, so
that's much better than my VM on my desktop that has only 4GB and Win7 x86.

Thanks for the reply and info! What is the best source to take a look at Win10
screens - are they available anywhere? Kind of interested in seeing the home
page and see how it compares to Win7.

Good luck with it!

Like others have indicated...the setting is fixed and not changeable in
W10TP.
