Thanks Chuck. XP may be different. I use to save files directly to the “A”
drive when I was using ME. As soon as I get this sorted out I’ll try that,
but for now when I try to move a file...

I do not have access to the folder a:\

If I put in my old Windows 98 start up disk, and restart the computer, the
drive does read it and boots the computer. On the other hand if I put a
blank disk in and try to format it, it looks like...

Thanks Wes but no I donot have access outside of word either. I put a disk
in the drive and went to run and typed a: but I get the message "Please
incert a disk into drive a:".

Yes Harry I do have an floppy drive and you were right it is designated as
the "A" drive. The device manager lists the floppy and says it is working

Sorry Wes, I assumed the "A" drive was normally the floppy drive. It is the
floppy drive that I can't access. Thanks Ed.

When I try to save a "Word" document to the "A" drive I get the following:
"The parameter is incorrect." When I click on the OK button I get "You do
