Power Button not working

Why didn't you purchase the correct PSU rather than splicing what you
thought were the correct wires?
It's likely the motherboard got fried when the PSU committed suicide.

identical, just having the same or similar chipset is enough. Second If the
user has an OEM copy of XP, he indeed does need an...

Upgrade from win2Kpro

If your 2k install is in the winnt directory, the XP upgrade will be there
as well.

If "equivalent" means identical then it will boot just fine, otherwise you
may need to perform a repair install. Your IP is provided by your ISP,
unless your paying for a static IP, it likely...

Is your OS on one of these drives? You cannot disconnect the OS ( System)
drive. Also if these are IDE drives they are not hot swappable, you'd need
SATA drives.

A repair install will also mean applying all the patches, they do not get
retained.
Take a look at http://www.autopatcher.com/ as an alternate way of mass patch
installation.

Second hard drive causing blue screen error

It is impossible for two instances of XP to attempt to boot a PC.
You probably need to go into BIOS setup and change the boot order of the
hard drives to boot from the one with the fresh install on...
